CREATING A UNIQUE, VALUABLE AND LASTING FAN EXPERIENCE AT THE FINALS OF EMIR CUP OF QATAR

Emir Cup, in simple words, is the country’s most popular sports event. The 2018 Emir of Qatar Cup is the 45th edition of the Qatari cup tournament in men’s football and won by Al-Duhail Sports Club. The finals took place in the Khalifa International Stadium that will host several World Cup matches in 2022.

As a foretaste of the implementation of 5G an innovative solution to enhance the event experiance was presented to an exclusive fan circle. The fans were able to join the event in a never-experienced manner.  The realization of this project was ensured in collaboration with a major telecommunication company.

Real-time Edge Video Orchestration is our core technology. With EVO, we offer software that enables a secure, dynamic and high-quality many-to-many distribution of video streams via mobile or fixed networks with a hyper-low latency of 1 millisecond.

Everything the viewer needed was a mobile device. The recorded game is then transmitted to the viewers’ device in real-time via LTE 4G/5G. Installing four 360 degree cameras in the stadium gave viewers the chance to choose an angle out of which they want to follow the game. Depending on the location of action, the angle can be adjusted anytime.

Using EVO and giving viewers the option to choose between different angles leads to an individual adaptable, enjoyable and easy way of real-time viewing.

Using Immersive Virtual Reality enabled remote viewers to feel as if they were in the stadium. They could then view the game out of VR glasses, in 4K, with a 360 degree view an in real-time! In the future of digital venues, this solution will enable sports venues to serve their fans globally, by extending live views and data to fans, allowing them to join in the events virtually from remote locations around the world.
