06/20 SML to sponsor TUfast Racing Team as a Silver Technology Sponsor
Munich, 17 June 2020 – SML, provider of real-time video over LTE/5G, is proud to be a silver sponsor the successful Technical University of Munich’s racing team; TUfast by providing live video streams and on-track telemetry data transmission. The information gathered aims to give the racing team a competitive advantage by enabling better decision making through vehicle optimisation using the telemetry gathered and the video streams. SML’s technology aims to make racing teams more agile and equip them with faster, accurate data.
Within the scope of the TUfast partnership, SML also partnered with Axiros to provide TUfast with data analysis and device management for the vehicles.
TUfast is a successful team of students who build racecars within the Formula Student regulations. They have achieved four overall wins in Europe’s past season and the brought home the overall win in Australia. The TUfast Racing Team have so far achieved five wins in a row. Innovation and future technologies are a priority for the team who aim at gaining advantage over other teams especially in the dynamic disciplines and the engineering design.
TUfast participates in two competition categories – electric and driverless race categories. Formula Student Germany which takes place at the Hockenheim Ring, is the biggest event and the team’s most important race. TUfast is eager to participate in future events taking place in Hungary, Austria, Germany and Spain and other countries.
About TUfast Racing Team
TUfast started in November 2002 as a student initiative. The Racing Team consists of future mechanical and electrical engineers, computer scientists and economists. Each year TUfast develops and designs two prototype racecars inspired by Formula One and creates a business plan for these prototypes. One is fully electric and the other one is a former electric car which is adapted for autonomous driving. When the cars are manufactured, the Racing Team goes on track to get these prototypes running and prepares the cars for competitions.
