For many, it is no less than a revolution: the mobile standard 5G. This network will be up to 100 times as fast as the final stage of the previous mobile networks. It also increases the capacity, only so the billions of additional devices can be powered on the Internet. The industry eagerly awaits the new, fast and intelligent network. In Europe, however, the launch date, which the former Digital Commissioner Günther Oettinger had actually scheduled for 2020, will be delayed. Westhoff is pushing for the swiftest possible implementation, because: “Everything will be brought back to zero by 5G – it’s a unique opportunity for Germany to get involved again in digital competition.
